The Health, Society and Policy (HSP) Program explores the complex factors influencing human well-being. Health outcomes extend beyond mere biology, shaped by elements like lifestyle choices, environmental factors, economic conditions, cultural background, communication barriers, and healthcare accessibility. This interdisciplinary program equips students with comprehensive knowledge to thoughtfully approach healthcare challenges across diverse situations - recognizing how location, education level, or financial means might affect someone's ability to receive medical care or maintain proper nutrition. HSP students engage with multiple disciplines, studying epidemiology, behavioral sciences, research methodologies, management, philosophy, and historical perspectives. These studies create an integrated understanding of healthcare within different social and organizational frameworks. The program concludes with a capstone experience featuring interdisciplinary seminars focused on a specific theme within the major.
Professional Pathways
Graduates of the HSP program pursue varied careers in healthcare management, public health initiatives, policy development, and research fields. About 40% of alumni continue their education through graduate or professional programs, including medical studies. University graduates have secured positions in hospital administration, nonprofit organizations, public health agencies, and scientific research environments.
