The Environmental and Sustainability Studies (ENVST) program is a STEM interdisciplinary field providing both a major with specialized tracks and a minor option. This curriculum examines ecosystems and human-environment relationships through lenses of natural sciences, social sciences, health sciences, and humanities. The University's initiative aims to cultivate comprehension of complex environmental challenges and sustainable solutions via systems thinking, collaborative education, civic involvement, ethical leadership, and science-driven approaches to integrated problem-solving.
Professional Pathways
ENVST studies equip students for diverse roles including government positions (like Bureau of Land Management specialists or Watershed Scientists), corporate careers (as sustainability advisors or environmental strategists), education, urban development, agriculture, nonprofit leadership (as program directors), and advocacy work (such as environmental policy lobbyists). Alumni have pursued careers as policy analysts, ecological consultants, plant scientists, renewable energy specialists, and environmental reporters. For advanced studies, graduates may pursue degrees in environmental sciences, business management, public health, urban design, or environmental law.
