The Environmental and Sustainability Studies (ENVST) program is a STEM-based interdisciplinary field providing both a major with specialized tracks and a minor option. This curriculum examines ecosystems and human-environment relationships through lenses of natural sciences, social sciences, health sciences, and humanities. The University's initiative aims to cultivate awareness of complex environmental challenges while developing solutions through collaborative learning, systems thinking, civic participation, ethical leadership, and scientifically-grounded approaches to integrated problem-solving.
Professional Pathways
ENVST equips students for diverse roles across sectors including public service (e.g., Bureau of Land Management specialists or Hydrological Scientists), corporate sustainability (as environmental advisors or green initiative leaders), education, agricultural development, urban design, nonprofit management (program coordinators), and advocacy work (environmental policy influencers). Alumni have pursued careers as legislative analysts, ecological consultants, plant scientists, renewable energy specialists, and environmental reporters. For advanced studies, graduates may pursue degrees in environmental sciences, business leadership, community health, urban development, or environmental law.
