Anthropology examines humanity across cultures, biological traits, behaviors, and evolutionary development. As a comprehensive field, it integrates knowledge from various disciplines like biology, physiology, sociology, and psychology. The University of Utah's Anthropology Department organizes its studies into four primary areas: Cultural, Biological, Evolutionary Ecology, and Archaeology. Cultural anthropology explores the diversity of human societies across different eras and geographical locations, including prehistoric times. Biological anthropology investigates anatomical and physiological differences in both ancient and contemporary human populations, while also studying primates such as chimpanzees and gorillas to gain insights into human evolution.
