Geologists examine Earth's history, composition, natural processes, and resulting formations. While some focus on theoretical research like mountain formation and weathering, others apply their knowledge to practical areas such as locating energy resources, evaluating mineral deposits, or assessing construction and waste management sites. These scientists also analyze environmental effects. The Geosciences Department provides undergraduate and graduate programs, including BS, BA, MS, and PhD degrees with concentrations in geology, geophysics, and environmental science. TU's program combines fundamental scientific principles with specialized training in energy exploration, environmental studies, and resource management. The geology track within the geosciences bachelor's program equips students for professional roles analyzing Earth's physical properties, including its makeup and architecture. Meanwhile, the environmental science concentration targets aspiring geoscientists preparing for positions in various organizations, businesses, and government agencies.
