The Biological Science department provides tailored academic advising, direct professor accessibility, exceptional peer networks, student organizations, and hands-on research experiences in faculty laboratories for undergraduates. Resources feature advanced electron microscopes and specialized equipment for cellular/molecular biology, immunology, genetics, and ecological studies. Faculty expertise covers diverse domains including ecological systems, developmental biology, and molecular/cellular processes.
Our undergraduate program aims to establish a comprehensive biological foundation, preparing students for diverse career paths including advanced studies in various graduate and professional fields.
Program Competencies
Graduates in Biological Science or Biology will develop proficiency in:
Exhibiting core knowledge of genetics and evolutionary theory via (a) lecture assessments, (b) lab examinations, or (c) experimental documentation.
Showing foundational understanding of cellular mechanisms and molecular processes through (a) course evaluations, (b) practical lab tests, or (c) laboratory documentation.
Displaying fundamental knowledge of biological diversity across organisms by (a) lecture evaluations, (b) laboratory assessments, or (c) experimental write-ups.
Illustrating comprehension of ecological adaptations through (a) course examinations, (b) lab practicals, or (c) research reports. 5. Interpreting and assessing scientific information and research literature, evaluated through experimental planning, analytical tasks, presentations, academic discussions, written assignments, or research papers.
