The Environmental and Occupational Health (ENVH) program emphasizes an integrated approach to public health, combining scientific principles, technical skills, and regulatory knowledge. It examines how to identify and manage various hazards - including physical, chemical, and biological threats - in both workplace and community settings. (These hazards encompass, but aren't restricted to, those linked with terrorist activities.) Central to the program is teaching methods for detecting, assessing, and mitigating human exposure risks from polluted air, water, soil, and food sources, along with emergency preparedness strategies.
This major enhances students' understanding and capabilities, equipping them for careers as specialists who design, execute, and oversee comprehensive environmental and occupational health initiatives, ranging from targeted interventions to large-scale safety programs.
