The PhD in Foundations of Education equips students to examine comprehensive challenges within educational institutions and systems. Tailored for those pursuing research and leadership roles in fundamental educational domains, this curriculum prepares graduates to serve as scholars and administrators across academic, governmental, NGO, and nonprofit sectors dedicated to educational advancement.

This 61-credit hour doctoral program combines mandatory education classes with specialized coursework chosen in consultation with advisors to align with each student's academic objectives. Qualification Requirements

admission to the doctoral program requires the following:

A master's degree from an accredited college or university

For the concentration in research and measurement only: GRE is NOT required for applicants with a master's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university AND a master's GPA of 3.5 or higher, GRE IS required for applicants without a master's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university OR with a master's GPA of less than 3.5 (GRE scores with 152 in the verbal and 146 in the quantitative sections and a 4.0 writing score or above preferred)

Previous academic work necessary to successfully complete a doctoral program in the area of study

Evidence of research and writing ability such as a master's thesis, proctored writing sample, a written research report, one or more reprints of publications, a paper presented to a professional society, or similar evidence of competence

A statement of purpose that describes why you wish to pursue this doctoral program and includes information on previous study, educational experience, professional accomplishments, immediate and future professional goals, a proposed time schedule for completing the degree, and any other information that you believe is relevant for admission into this doctoral degree program Official transcripts from all institutions of higher education
