Human interaction is profoundly shaped by communication. The Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders program at UT Tyler establishes a comprehensive understanding of the scientific principles underlying typical speech, language, hearing, and swallowing functions, encompassing biological, physical, social, and linguistic disciplines. The curriculum also familiarizes students with diverse communication and swallowing impairments, such as articulation difficulties, language delays, fluency challenges, vocal abnormalities, and auditory deficits. As part of their training, students fulfill 25 clinical observation hours in speech-language pathology while acquiring skills to create therapeutic interventions for both pediatric and adult populations with communication disorders.
