The MS in Mathematics program provides specialized tracks in diverse fields such as Mathematical Biology, Computational Mathematics, Data Analytics, Differential Equations, Model Theory and Foundations, Operator Theory, Optimal Control, Post-Quantum Cryptography, Mathematical Physics, Quantum Theory, and Scientific Computing with Numerical Analysis. Our Mathematics Department maintains a strong research focus, with faculty projects supported by prestigious grants from the National Science Foundation (NSF), National Institutes of Health (NIH), as well as Fulbright and Alfred P. Sloan Foundation fellowships.
Our department provides Master of Science degrees in three distinct programs: Applied Mathematics-Industrial Mathematics, Mathematics, and Mathematics Education.
Choosing the Pure Mathematics concentration at UTSA equips students for advanced doctoral research, scientific exploration, and engineering careers. Graduates find employment opportunities across multiple sectors including industrial firms, financial risk management, consulting services, academic institutions, tech companies, research laboratories, and various government organizations such as EPA, CDC, HHS, DoD, and NSA.
