This doctoral program equips future health service psychologists with the skills to enhance children's and adolescents' academic, emotional, and social-behavioral wellness through various service approaches. The School Psychology PhD enables graduates to work in educational environments, conduct field research, teach at university level, and take on leadership positions. Candidates undertake a comprehensive internship/school practicum, delivering psychological services, gaining specialized experience, and completing an original research dissertation.
School Psychology doctoral candidates master core psychological concepts along with professional standards encompassing ethics, law, equity, cultural diversity, communication, and quality control. They develop expertise in assessment, intervention strategies, consultation, and supervising psychological services for diverse groups. Additionally, students acquire advanced research methodology and data analysis skills. The program encourages exploration of research areas including psychological evaluation, mental health treatments, consultation approaches, developmental psychology, and educational/mental health system challenges.
This full-time 114-credit PhD program trains scientist-practitioners and health service psychologists to improve youth well-being through direct services, indirect support, and research contributions.
