The Computer Science Department conducts pioneering research across key domains: cybersecurity, data analytics, virtual reality systems, and networked software solutions. Faculty expertise spans artificial intelligence, machine learning, big data, cloud technologies, cybersecurity, bioinformatics, IoT, embedded systems, parallel computing, and augmented reality. The department maintains specialized teaching spaces, an expansive instructional laboratory, 20 research facilities, and two primary research centers: the Center for Infrastructure Assurance and Security (CIAS) and the Institute for Cyber Security (ICS). Faculty collaborate with UTSA's School of Data Science, National Security Collaboration Center, and AI Matrix Consortium. Cybersecurity encompasses protective measures safeguarding network integrity, software systems, and sensitive information from breaches, attacks, and unauthorized intrusion.
