At UTSA, a music degree offers a solid groundwork to develop your artistic passion. Students can select between a B.A. in Music or a B.M. with specializations in Music Education, Music Composition, Music Performance, or Music Marketing. Specializations are chosen after admission during academic advising sessions.
Earning a Music degree from UTSA makes a meaningful impact on society through its nationally accredited program recognized by the National Association of Schools of Music. Graduates join the ranks of renowned musicians, pursuing careers as performers, sound technicians, composers, music teachers, or music industry professionals.
The School of Music provides three degree options: Bachelor of Music (B.M.), Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Music, and B.A. in Commercial and Digital Music. The B.M. program allows concentrations in Music Education (with teaching certification), Music Performance, Composition, or Music Marketing. Additional minors include Dance, Music, Jazz Studies, Music Marketing, and Music Technology, all under the NASM accreditation.
Music Performance: Senior Recital (MUS 4561). This capstone experience involves students presenting a one-hour performance under faculty supervision, evaluated by at least three music professors through diverse solo and ensemble repertoire.
