UTSA's music degree programs offer a solid groundwork to develop your artistic passion. Students can select between a Bachelor of Arts in Music or a Bachelor of Music with specializations in Music Education, Composition, Performance, or Music Marketing. These focus areas are chosen after admission during academic advising sessions.
Earning a Music degree from UTSA makes valuable contributions to society while being part of a prestigious program accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music. Graduates join the ranks of renowned musicians, pursuing careers as performers, audio technicians, composers, music teachers, or industry marketing specialists.
The School of Music provides three undergraduate options: Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Arts in Music, and Bachelor of Arts in Commercial and Digital Music. The Bachelor of Music program allows concentrations in Music Education (with teaching certification), Performance, Composition, or Music Marketing. Additional minors include Dance, Jazz Studies, Music Marketing, and Music Technology, all under NASM accreditation.
Composition students complete their studies with MUS 4561: Senior Recital, where they showcase original works across various styles under faculty mentorship. These performances are evaluated by composition professors.
