The Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice provides a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) program, enabling students to thoroughly examine criminal justice systems, along with a Minor option in the field. Graduates with the B.A. degree can explore various career paths in government or private organizations, or continue their education in law or graduate programs.
UTSA's Criminology and Criminal Justice curriculum covers diverse topics including law enforcement, criminal investigations, forensic analysis, violent offenses, judicial processes, and victim studies. Classes are held at the Downtown Campus, offering easy access to San Antonio's urban center and numerous internship possibilities with local, state, and federal institutions. Preparing HCAP students for professional careers is our foremost commitment. The program features a specialized internship coordinator who collaborates with organizations to arrange practical experiences and guidance. HCAP students have collectively completed more than 140,000 internship hours. The curriculum incorporates hands-on learning through research projects, fieldwork, and internship placements. Additional career preparation and leadership training is available through the HCAP Student Success Center.
