This program fosters creative methods in literacy research and instruction, equipping educators to deepen their understanding of teaching literacy to multilingual students. Graduates will be prepared to assume leadership positions in schools, districts, and communities. The curriculum teaches students to integrate theoretical knowledge with practical literacy instruction while designing, executing, and evaluating literacy programs. The M.Ed. in Literacy Education aims to develop literacy specialists capable of serving in various PK-12 environments and other educational institutions. Consisting of 36 graduate credits (12 courses), the program concludes with an applied research capstone project in RED 5349: Literacy Education Practicum.
