The University of Texas at El Paso's borderland setting creates a distinctive environment for studying how the convergence of cultures, languages, and national identities influences cognitive functions and social behaviors. These themes deeply inform our educational initiatives, research endeavors, and community engagement programs.
Our Psychology Department provides diverse graduate programs with specialized tracks, allowing students to customize their advanced studies according to professional aspirations. We feature a PhD in General Psychology with three focus areas: Health Psychology, Legal Psychology, and Social, Cognitive, and Neurosciences. This doctoral program equips students for research-oriented careers in both academic and practical applications.
Additionally, we maintain two Master's programs: a Clinical Psychology MA that trains students for professional practice as psychological associates or doctoral study, and a General Experimental Psychology MA designed for students pursuing further PhD education.
