To be eligible for the national CPA exam, students need to finish 150 credit hours of coursework. This must include 30 hours of advanced or graduate-level accounting classes that meet the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy's approval standards. The Accountancy Certificate program offers five mandatory graduate accounting courses (totaling 15 semester credits) that fulfill the Board's criteria for research, writing, and ethical studies.

Online Application for Admission into a Graduate Degree Program
Official transcript from an accredited institution demonstrating completion of a four-year Bachelor's degree (or equivalent in the case of an international institution) and official transcripts from all colleges or universities attended. Official transcripts for degrees earned at UTEP are not required.*
Evidence demonstrating English proficiency (for non-native English speakers). See UTEP Graduate School website for information and requirements.
Pre-Master of Accountancy Requirements (leveling courses)

If you did not attend high school in the United States and your most recent institution of learning was not located in an English-speaking country, UTEP requires you to provide evidence of English-language proficiency. Minimum score 550 on the paper-based (pBT) TOEFL. Some programs require 600 or better. Minimum score of 79 on the internet-based test (iBT), and minimum of 6.5 on IELTS.
