Students in UTEP's technical writing and user experience program gain hands-on experience designing for diverse audiences through the Communication Digital Media Lab. Mastering complex writing scenarios has become one of this decade's most rapidly expanding professional areas. The program equips graduates for roles as technical writers and UX analysts - two professions experiencing significant growth in the 2020s. This adaptable degree leverages expertise from Rhetoric and Writing Studies (RWS) to train students for careers spanning technical documentation, UX research, professional communication, content strategy, information architecture, and web development. The curriculum also readies students for writing-intensive roles across various sectors. Graduates will be prepared for opportunities in corporate, government, educational, military, and non-profit organizations. Additionally, the degree provides foundational knowledge for advanced studies in rhetoric, technical communication, writing pedagogy, legal writing, and related disciplines.

Official High School or College transcripts must be sent directly from the schools attended in the U.S. or abroad. Foreign transcripts must also be accompanied by a Credential Evaluation by a certified credentialing service.
SAT: minimum score of 1070 (reading + math sections) with a score of 480 on the reading section
ACT: minimum composite score of 23 with a score of 19 on the English section
TOEFL: minimum score of 500 on UTEP's institutional paper based exam or
a minimum score of 61 on the Internet Based TOEFL (IBT)
UTEP does not accept IELTS scores for admission.
