Economics education offers excellent preparation for various careers in business and public service. It cultivates analytical and quantitative abilities that are valuable across numerous professions. Understanding economics is equally important for citizens to engage knowledgeably in societal discussions and policy decisions. Given the diverse interests of economics students, they're advised to consult with department advisors to tailor their academic path. An economics degree also serves as a strong foundation for advanced studies in fields like law, business administration, economics, public policy, healthcare management, urban planning, and transportation. Graduates can pursue careers as investment bankers, data analysts, financial advisors, trade experts, policy analysts, insurance professionals, academics, tax specialists, consultants, economic researchers, or credit officers.

The Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Business Administration in Economics equip students with essential skills for the business world. UTEP's unique border location enhances students' readiness for careers in international economics, finance, commerce, and public policy.
