Cognitive science explores how humans and machines process complex information, examining both biological and artificial systems. This broad field encompasses everything from living organisms to digital technologies like search engines, computers, and robotics. Researchers employ diverse interdisciplinary methods, drawing from psychology experiments, brain studies, machine learning, language research, computing, mathematics, and bioengineering.
The University of Texas at Dallas provides a comprehensive cognitive science curriculum with courses designed to build expertise across multiple disciplines. Students can focus their studies by selecting two specialization areas from these three options: neuroscience, psychology/human-computer interaction, or computational modeling/artificial intelligence.
