The Master of Science in Computer Science (MSCS) program caters to students holding a bachelor's in computer science who seek advanced education. Entry into this program is extremely competitive, with few available spots and numerous qualified candidates annually. Those with an undergraduate degree in computer science or a comparable qualification stand the best chance of admission. The College of Natural Sciences includes 12 departments offering unparalleled research and educational prospects across life sciences, physical sciences, human sciences, and mathematics, data & computing sciences. UT computer science students engage in hackathons, secure internships with leading tech companies and startups, collaborate in labs creating games, applications, and robotics, and have opportunities for international study. Graduates often launch careers within or beyond the tech industry, while others advance to graduate or professional programs.
Students must have a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in the United States or a comparable degree from a foreign academic institution. A grade point average of at least 3.00 in upper-division (junior- and senior-level) coursework and in any graduate work already completed.
The minimum scores considered acceptable for admission by the Graduate School are:
TOEFL: 79 on the Internet-based test (iBT)
IELTS: An overall band of 6.5 on the Academic Examination
