The two-year Master of Music (M.M.) program in Performance prepares students to become well-rounded artist-performers. Beyond technical proficiency on their instrument or voice, candidates must show deep comprehension of theoretical, pedagogical, and historical elements within their discipline, along with familiarity with their performance specialty's repertoire.
Biennially, a single pre-professional ensemble is chosen for the Young Professional String Quartet (YPSQ) residency, working closely with the Mir Quartet. Selected participants benefit from weekly coaching sessions, private instruction from Mir Quartet members, competition preparation, rotational performances with either the UT Symphony Orchestra or New Music Ensemble, plus extensive career development support including networking strategies and organizational guidance.
