McCombs School of Business's Full-Time MBA program enables deep engagement with academics, discovery, and forming lasting bonds with peers. The Business Analytics specialization addresses the increasing need for professionals skilled in handling, interpreting, forecasting, and extracting insights from vast, complex datasets (such as transactions, social networks, and sensor data) to address business and societal challenges. Leading industry reports (like those from McKinsey Global Institute) indicate a demand for 140,000-190,000 highly skilled analytics professionals, alongside a 1.5 million shortage of managers proficient with data. This concentration builds core analytics competencies by combining statistical methods, optimization techniques, and decision theory for applications ranging from consumer behavior analysis to healthcare fraud detection, financial modeling, and security threat assessment.

Obtain copies of your official transcripts, have official test scores sent to UT Austin, or submit a test waiver petition.
Complete your Texas McCombs MBA application by the submission deadline for the round in which you are applying. This includes all relevant application components - essay, transcripts, self-reported test scores, letter of recommendation, resume, etc.
All Full-Time MBA applicants are required to submit a GMAT, GMAT Focus, GRE, or EA score. We will waive the testing requirement if:
An expired (taken 5+ years ago) GMAT, GRE, or EA score is submitted or
General Test Waiver (merit-based) is approved
Within your application, you will provide your professional resume. We strongly suggest that all applicants have at least two years of full-time post-bachelor's work experience (not internships). Full-time work experience is calculated up until the time of enrollment (the start of classes). This encompasses all work completed since your bachelor's degree, including teaching, military service, and government experience (e.g. the Peace Corps).
Cover Letter and Optional Statement
We require one recommendation from a person who has supervised your work and/or assessed your performance. The Admissions Committee limits each application to one letter of recommendation and cannot accept additional recommendations.
The Graduate School requires applicants to have earned a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution in the United States or a comparable degree from a foreign academic institution.
A grade-point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) or a comparable GPA in upper-division workjunior- and senior-level coursesand in any graduate work already completed is also required.
TOEFL: 79 on the Internet-based test (iBT)
