The University of Texas at Austin has established global recognition for outstanding achievements in plant science research and education. Current investigations span a wide spectrum of botanical disciplines, encompassing:
cellular communication, genetic studies, and functional genomics
ecological relationships and evolutionary processes
plant-microbe interactions across various scales, from laboratory to environmental systems

The Plant Biology Program brings together faculty members from multiple departments within the College of Natural Sciences. These scholars mentor graduate candidates pursuing both Master's and Doctoral degrees. The program provides financial assistance through fellowships and teaching positions, supplementing the standard departmental resources available in the College of Natural Sciences. Prospective applicants are invited to learn about our curriculum, the university, and the Austin community via our dedicated admissions portal. The Plant Biology Graduate Program website details entry prerequisites, degree pathways, faculty research specialties, and funding opportunities. We strongly advise applicants to communicate with potential faculty advisors during the application process, as this facilitates both admissions decisions and completion of the faculty preference section. Applicants should also feel free to reach out to our graduate program administrator for any application-related inquiries.
The Master's degree curriculum must be finished within a three-year period. The Plant Biology Graduate Program offers two distinct tracks for the Master of Arts degree requirements.

A grade point average of at least 3.00 in upper-division (junior- and senior-level) coursework and in any graduate work already completed.
