Since 1981, the Energy and Earth Resources Graduate Program has enabled students to engage in cross-disciplinary studies spanning geosciences, engineering, business, finance, economics, legal studies, and policy. Recognized by the Department of Homeland Security as a STEM-designated degree program, it qualifies F-1 students for STEM OPT extensions. Both private enterprises and government agencies increasingly require skilled professionals capable of designing, assessing, and overseeing intricate resource initiatives—frequently with global reach—that involve collaborators from diverse professional fields. This program ideally prepares individuals for modern careers in energy, mineral extraction, water resources, and environmental management.
Students must have a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in the United States or a comparable degree from a foreign academic institution. A grade point average of at least 3.00 in upper-division (junior- and senior-level) coursework and in any graduate work already completed.
The minimum scores considered acceptable for admission by the Graduate School are:
TOEFL: 79 on the Internet-based test (iBT)
IELTS: An overall band of 6.5 on the Academic Examination
