The Higher Education Leadership and Policy Program (PHELP) focuses on the academic exploration of higher education, examining its students, institutions, and societal impact. This program equips students with the knowledge and skills to pursue research careers in both academic and private sector settings. Ph.D. candidates gain comprehensive insights into postsecondary institutions' operations, along with expertise in administration, leadership, and decision-making. They explore higher education's dual role in society—disseminating and generating knowledge—while considering its historical foundations and ethical dimensions.
Additionally, the program trains doctoral students to engage with and contribute to postsecondary research, guiding them toward potential careers in academia or institutional leadership. Designed for those pursuing research-oriented paths, the curriculum strengthens theoretical understanding and methodological skills while encouraging specialization in a complementary discipline.
