The University of Texas McCombs School houses the nation's top-ranked accounting doctoral program, having produced over 300 PhD graduates since its establishment in 1934.
This doctoral curriculum readies students for academic careers by honing their research and writing abilities. Participants also complete a teaching practicum. Upon graduation, you'll possess the tools to advance accounting scholarship, build evidence-based frameworks for professional accounting practices, and uncover fresh educational resources. Current accounting professionals will recognize many of these subject areas.
Admissions are based on a balanced consideration of several factors, including academic credentials, GMAT scores, work experience, recommendation letters, and the personal statement of goals and objectives. All accounting Ph.D. applicants are automatically considered for financial aid, which is generally available. The program does not accept applications for a terminal Master’s degree.
The minimum scores considered acceptable for admission by the Graduate School are:
TOEFL: 79 on the Internet-based test (iBT)
IELTS: An overall band of 6.5 on the Academic Examination
Application deadline: Jan. 5 for fall
