The Bachelor of Music in Music Studies program prepares students for K-12 music teaching certification in public schools. Participants learn from world-renowned faculty in music education, all with prior experience as exceptional K-12 educators before joining Butler School. Throughout the program, students gain hands-on experience through fieldwork in Austin-area schools while developing their musical skills through private lessons, ensemble participation, and rigorous coursework in music theory and history. Graduates pursue successful teaching careers across Texas and nationwide.
This four-year Bachelor of Music (B.M.) in Music Studies program qualifies graduates for all-level music teaching certification. Alongside specialized pedagogy training, students develop their performance abilities through private instruction and ensemble work while mastering music theory and history. The curriculum also includes the university's core academic requirements.
