The Humanities Program enables driven students to craft their own customized path toward a B.A. degree. Prospective students work closely with the Humanities advisor to develop a personalized major comprising forty-two credits beyond the university's core requirements.
Participants combine diverse courses across disciplines united by a central theme, expanding beyond conventional Humanities boundaries. Every course in the individualized study plan must meaningfully contribute to a focused exploration of a specific theme, concept, or inquiry. These interdisciplinary topics can range from specialized areas like Humanitarian Efforts in Central Asia and Latin America to broader subjects such as Literary, Historical, and Artistic Studies.
Each distinctive major concludes with a year-long honors thesis project - students conceptualize their work, perform extensive research, and collaborate with faculty mentors. Some theses may take creative forms like documentary films, poetry collections, or art installations. During their final year, Humanities students showcase their thesis work at a semesterly academic conference.
