The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science program at UTA equips students with both theoretical understanding and hands-on experience in contemporary software-driven computing systems. This includes multi-level software development encompassing operating systems, databases, programming languages, networking, security concerns, interface design, and artificial intelligence.Students develop core competencies in designing computer systems while cultivating leadership abilities for an evolving professional landscape. They put classroom learning into practice through internships, cooperative education opportunities, and project-based coursework - culminating in a comprehensive capstone project.The curriculum immerses students in modern software-intensive computing environments, covering essential areas like operating systems, database management, programming paradigms, network infrastructure, cybersecurity, human-computer interaction, and artificial intelligence.
Students must have completed official secondary school transcripts, diplomas, certificates and/or national test examination scores as appropriate for the educational systems in their country. In order to be considered for freshman admission students must have completed secondary school studies equivalent to that of United States high school graduation.
Official SAT I or ACT scores are required for entering freshmen with less than 24 semester hours of university level course work (equivalent to one year of full time study).
 
The minimum acceptable score on the TOEFL is 79 on the Internet-based test, 550 on the paper-based test and 213 on the computer-based test. The IELTS can be substituted for TOEFL scores. The minimum acceptable overall score of 6.5 is required for admission. Scores must be sent directly to UT Arlington from the Testing Service to be considered official.
