The UTA Vocal Arts program fosters a supportive yet rigorous atmosphere for students to develop as performers, educators, and creative artists. Our distinguished faculty delivers comprehensive, personalized instruction, while the department presents valuable performance experiences that equip students for professional music careers.
UTA's choral groups showcase vibrant, expanding programs. The elite A Cappella Choir enables 40-50 accomplished vocalists to tour, record, and appear at prestigious regional and national events, whereas the University Singers provides an exceptional ensemble experience for talented students across campus. Both groups present biannual campus concerts and occasionally join forces with orchestral performers.
Personalized voice training forms the core of our vocal curriculum. Students receive weekly one-on-one coaching from dedicated professionals, prepare solo recitals, and gain regular performance experience - all cultivating the artistry and technical proficiency needed for professional music careers or advanced graduate studies. UTA vocalists enjoy abundant performance outlets, including department recitals, featured soloist roles, opera workshops, musical theater productions, NATS conferences and competitions, and Metropolitan Opera National Council auditions.
