The Bachelor of Music program equips students for All Level Choral and Instrumental Certification. Upon fulfilling the degree requirements, students can apply to the College of Education to complete coursework for obtaining a Texas Teacher Certificate. The curriculum includes diverse offerings in instrumental and choral conducting, teaching methods for various ensembles, specialized classes for woodwind, brass, string, and percussion instruments, along with courses in early childhood music education, elementary music instruction, pedagogical strategies, and music teaching fundamentals - all designed to prepare future music educators. The University of Texas Arlington's Band Program features a wide array of performance groups and experiences. Our concert ensembles and marching band create valuable musical experiences for both music majors pursuing professional careers and non-majors who love performing. Regardless of your academic focus, participating in UTA Bands offers a fulfilling and enjoyable musical journey.
Students must have completed official secondary school transcripts, diplomas, certificates and/or national test examination scores as appropriate for the educational systems in their country. In order to be considered for freshman admission students must have completed secondary school studies equivalent to that of United States high school graduation.
Official SAT I or ACT scores are required for entering freshmen with less than 24 semester hours of university level course work (equivalent to one year of full time study).
The minimum acceptable score on the TOEFL is 79 on the Internet-based test, 550 on the paper-based test and 213 on the computer-based test. The IELTS can be substituted for TOEFL scores. The minimum acceptable overall score of 6.5 is required for admission.
