The Bachelor of Arts program caters to students seeking a comprehensive liberal arts education with a psychology focus, while the Bachelor of Science is tailored for those pursuing careers requiring stronger math and science foundations. Our psychology curriculum equips students with current knowledge, critical thinking abilities, research proficiency, and effective communication skills - valuable assets for both immediate employment and graduate studies. The undergraduate program develops contemporary expertise, analytical capabilities, writing proficiency, and research competencies beneficial for career entry or advanced education. Students can participate in various research laboratories within our department. As both a practical and theoretical discipline, psychology offers advantages to individuals and communities alike. Earning a psychology degree cultivates versatile skills applicable to diverse professions including management, marketing, personnel management, communications, and business development. Both BA and BS degrees require 120 total credit hours, with 33 major credits for the BA and 36 for the BS program.
Students must have completed official secondary school transcripts, diplomas, certificates and/or national test examination scores as appropriate for the educational systems in their country. In order to be considered for freshman admission students must have completed secondary school studies equivalent to that of United States high school graduation.
Official SAT I or ACT scores are required for entering freshmen with less than 24 semester hours of university level course work (equivalent to one year of full time study).
 
The minimum acceptable score on the TOEFL is 79 on the Internet-based test, 550 on the paper-based test and 213 on the computer-based test. The IELTS can be substituted for TOEFL scores. The minimum acceptable overall score of 6.5 is required for admission. Scores must be sent directly to UT Arlington from the Testing Service to be considered official.
