The Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics offers comprehensive education in core disciplines including phonetics, syntax, semantics, and psycholinguistics. Learners have the option to combine their linguistics degree with an undergraduate TESOL certification, or specialize in pre-speech pathology or computational linguistics. Practical learning opportunities are available through linguistics-focused internships.
The Department of Linguistics & TESOL aims to advance language comprehension by investigating its structure, usage, and cognitive processing. We pursue this mission through academic research and instruction in fundamental linguistic areas such as phonology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics, and psycholinguistics, along with their interdisciplinary connections. Our investigative techniques encompass fieldwork, corpus analysis, and experimental methodologies, applied to diverse global languages and both native and non-native speakers. This scientific approach to language study forms the foundation of our doctoral, master's, and bachelor's programs in linguistics.
