The UTHSC College of Graduate Health Sciences and the University of Memphis Department of Biomedical Engineering collaborate to provide a combined MS program in Biomedical Engineering (BME). This specialized discipline utilizes engineering principles, physical sciences, and mathematics to address healthcare challenges, requiring deep integration across multiple knowledge domains - including those mentioned, life sciences, and clinical practices. Core faculty members are based at both institutions, conducting teaching and research focused on four key engineering specialties: (1) Biomechanics and Movement Science, (2) Biomaterials and Regenerative Technology, (3) Biosensors and Electrophysiology, and (4) Cellular Biomechanical Responses. These focus areas benefit from partnerships with additional faculty members from both universities and affiliated organizations.
