Nuclear engineering involves applying atomic and nuclear processes to benefit humanity and the environment. A key branch, radiological engineering, focuses on biological applications including radiation protection (health physics). This field enables clean electricity generation, medical and industrial radioisotope production, and cancer treatment/diagnosis using radiation. The Nuclear Engineering Department aims to: - Educate exceptional nuclear and radiological engineers at all academic levels to address workforce demands locally, nationally, and globally. - Advance society through nuclear-related research. - Provide expertise to industries, governments, professional groups, and the public regarding nuclear and radiological engineering matters.
