The landscape forms a vital ecosystem that supports all life on Earth. It encompasses our urban centers where we reside and labor, the recreational spaces where we unwind, the farmlands that feed us and fuel commerce, and the untamed areas that rejuvenate our spirits. With increasing population demands and climate shifts, we must view designed landscapes not just for their beauty but as dynamic spaces for interaction, exploration, and problem-solving - crucial for tackling modern issues like food security, water purity, ecological decline, and community wellness. The Sustainable Landscape Design Concentration prepares graduates to influence living environments, work spaces, and leisure areas while enhancing ecological wellbeing through landscape arts and sciences. The curriculum covers botanical studies, design processes, construction techniques, environmental studies, and ecosystem dynamics. With tailored guidance, students can pursue careers as design/build business owners, niche experts for design firms, or qualify for advanced standing in UT's Landscape Architecture program.
