The Kinesiology program equips students for diverse careers in health and fitness, as well as advanced studies in kinesiology specialties (like exercise physiology, biomechanics, sports psychology, motor control, physical activity epidemiology) and healthcare professions (including physical therapy, occupational therapy, physician assistant studies, chiropractic care, and athletic training). First-year students can declare Kinesiology as their major upon enrollment at UT or within their initial two years. Transfer students may join the program when they begin at UT. Those aiming for graduate studies should start planning immediately, as undergraduate education lays the crucial foundation for future success. While many enter college aspiring to become doctors, physical therapists, or healthcare providers, they often lack realistic understanding of these professions' daily realities and academic rigor. Given the highly competitive nature of medical and health fields, students should thoroughly research their desired career path, including graduate program prerequisites, required GPAs, and specific course performance expectations for admission.
