Russia has reemerged as a pivotal global player, instigating Europe's most significant conflict since World War II and jeopardizing worldwide food supplies, while simultaneously supporting authoritarian governments internationally. Now more than ever, Americans must grasp Russia's cultural and historical context to help establish lasting peace when opportunities emerge. Students pursuing Russian studies serve as key ambassadors in promoting this understanding across Tennessee and the United States.
UT's Russian studies curriculum develops expertise in the language, history, and traditions of Russia and its diverse ethnic communities. Alongside language, literature, and cultural courses, the program provides access to prestigious international study opportunities through various renowned exchange programs.

To apply for admission as an undergraduate student, each international student is required to provide the following:
A completed application for undergraduate admission.
Complete one required essay chosen from one of seven prompts.
Optional: Submit recommendation letters (academic, professional, or personal) and a Personal Statement.
