The Department of Mathematics and Statistics provides six specialized tracks for students pursuing either a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics. All majors must fulfill the general education requirements for their chosen degree, with physics recommended as a laboratory science option. Students not yet ready for calculus as their initial math course may use elective credits for college algebra and trigonometry or precalculus. The B.A. program mandates either a minor or completion of professional-education courses for teaching certification. The B.S. degree doesn't require a minor, except for those choosing the Secondary Mathematics Concentration, who must complete professional-education courses for licensure.
