The Program offers exceptional independence combined with structured support during key academic milestones. Students can choose from three focus areas: a B.A. in Humanities: Liberal Arts, a B.A. in Humanities: International Studies, or a B.A. in Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies. Departmental Honors are awarded upon meeting specific criteria. For the Liberal Arts or International Studies concentrations, students need to maintain a 2.0 GPA in their chosen program, complete 45 semester hours across UTC departments (with no more than 18 hours in any single department). These concentrations enable students to craft personalized interdisciplinary curricula after fulfilling UTC's General Education requirements for the standard B.A. In their sophomore year, students refine their academic focus by drafting a Program Rationale that explores a cultural aspect tied to a significant theory, historical period, geographical location, or thought-provoking question. Consider the Program Rationale as a guiding document that demonstrates how core courses interconnect.
