This adaptable degree program caters to individuals who have accumulated substantial college credits without finishing their degrees. Participants collaborate with an academic advisor to evaluate credit transfers and create a personalized graduation roadmap. Those pursuing a B.G.S. must fulfill all core curriculum requirements (30 credits), complete 15 credits in each of three focus areas, and take a culminating B.G.S.-specific capstone course. The B.G.S. doesn't offer traditional majors or minors, and admission is restricted to students with at least 60 completed credits. A distinct application procedure is necessary.
The curriculum enhances participants' foundational knowledge beyond secondary education and satisfies undergraduate general education standards across South Dakota's public universities. Additionally, students must complete 36 credits in elective coursework. Those planning to pursue a bachelor's degree after obtaining their associate's degree should select electives that align with future degree, major, or minor requirements.
