As a theatre design and technology student at USD, you'll examine intricate production challenges and devise strategic solutions to meet both script requirements and staging needs. Our program combines rigorous academic coursework with hands-on learning to refine your abilities while exposing you to diverse aspects of design and production.
You'll master industry-standard visualization techniques, from traditional hand-drawn methods to cutting-edge digital tools like CAD and computer rendering. Work alongside seasoned professionals who will mentor you in building your professional portfolio and developing career-ready skills.
This curriculum caters to individuals passionate about theatrical production, offering concentrations in costumes, sets, lighting, sound, and technical direction. Admission requires faculty approval following an interview and either an audition or portfolio review.
International students who have officially completed secondary school (high school) in either the United States or their home country may apply for undergraduate admission. High school (secondary school) transcript with grade point average equivalent to 2.6 on a 4.0 scale.
English Language Requirements:
TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) - 71 or higher (iBT), 530 or higher (paper test), IELTS (International English Language Testing System) - 6.0 or higher, Cambridge International Examinations English subject O-Level with B or higher, English subject A-Level with C or higher; International Baccalaureate (IB) - IB English A (4 or higher) or IB English B (6 or higher).
