As a photography student at USD, you'll hone your abilities in both conventional film and digital photography, along with experimental approaches. You'll learn from South Dakota's sole full-time art photography professor in higher education, who brings over three decades of expertise. Through collaborative study, you'll master photographic development methods, darkroom skills, printing processes, and creative approaches. The program includes engaging in critiques, attending specialized lectures, and observing demonstrations on essential photographic topics.
The four-year BFA in art education readies you for K-12 visual arts teaching certification or other professional paths. Offered jointly with the School of Education, this program provides balanced training in both academic theory and artistic practice. By specializing in photography, you'll refine your skills in analog, digital, and avant-garde photographic techniques while participating in discussions and demonstrations about pivotal photographic concerns.
