This program enhances participants' knowledge beyond high school level and fulfills general education prerequisites for a bachelor's degree at any public university in South Dakota. Participants will also complete 36 credit hours of elective coursework. Those planning to pursue a bachelor's degree after obtaining an associate degree should select electives that align with their intended major, minor, or degree requirements.
As a general studies degree student, you'll engage with diverse coursework that prepares you for future bachelor's degree pursuits or helps complete an existing undergraduate education. The 60-credit Associate of Arts in General Studies satisfies baccalaureate general education requirements at all South Dakota public universities and offers flexible in-person or online completion options. Students with 60 existing undergraduate credits who wish to finish their bachelor's in general studies must undergo a distinct application procedure. This completion program particularly benefits returning students who previously began but didn't finish a four-year degree.

International students who have officially completed secondary school (high school) in either the United States or their home country may apply for undergraduate admission. High school (secondary school) transcript with grade point average equivalent to 2.6 on a 4.0 scale.
English Language Requirements:
TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) - 71 or higher (iBT), 530 or higher (paper test), IELTS (International English Language Testing System) - 6.0 or higher, Cambridge International Examinations English subject O-Level with B or higher, English subject A-Level with C or higher; International Baccalaureate (IB) - IB English A (4 or higher) or IB English B (6 or higher).
