Program graduates will be capable of identifying, formulating, and resolving complex engineering challenges through the application of engineering, scientific, and mathematical principles. They will demonstrate proficiency in applying engineering design to develop solutions addressing specific requirements while accounting for public health, safety, welfare, and global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic considerations. Graduates will possess strong communication skills adaptable to diverse audiences. They will recognize ethical and professional obligations in engineering scenarios and exercise informed judgment that considers the worldwide, economic, environmental, and societal implications of engineering solutions. Graduates will collaborate effectively within teams, collectively providing leadership, fostering inclusive environments, setting objectives, organizing tasks, and achieving goals. They will be skilled at designing and performing suitable experiments, analyzing and interpreting data, and applying engineering judgment to reach conclusions. Additionally, graduates will be able to obtain and implement new knowledge as required, employing effective learning approaches.
International freshman applicants must be high school graduates (students that have the equivalent of a diploma in the United States).
English proficiency is measured through the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). A score of at least 550 on the paper based exam or 77 on the internet based TOEFL is required. USC also accepts the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or the PTE Academic Test. Students must score at least a 6.5 on the IELTS, or at least a 53 on the PTE.
