The Secondary Education Program equips future educators for teaching grades 9-12 in public schools. Offering specializations in Biology, Chemistry, English, Mathematics, and Comprehensive Social Studies, the program combines subject mastery with a well-rounded liberal arts foundation. The professional curriculum includes multiple semesters of hands-on experience in public schools, allowing candidates to engage directly with students and test teaching methods in their chosen certification field. Those pursuing Secondary Science Education - Chemistry certification will qualify to teach high school chemistry (grades 9-12). Participants gain extensive general education plus advanced chemistry training, including research work. A minimum of 100 secondary-level clinical hours must be completed before the internship. This program aligns with the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) standards for Secondary Science Education - Chemistry.
