All Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Bachelor of Music (BM) students must complete jury examinations on their principal instrument or voice. These assessments will involve performing diverse musical pieces representing undergraduate-level repertoire. Both BA and BM students must exhibit core piano competencies, such as playing, transposing, harmonizing, and sight-reading at standards expected for music majors. Performance and jazz studies BM students will present both a half-recital and full recital on their primary instrument, featuring varied musical styles from undergraduate-level works. Music education BM candidates will show proficiency in designing age-appropriate lesson plans and implementing them effectively in real classroom settings within their specialization (band, choir, orchestra, or elementary). The program fosters analytical and evaluative thinking skills alongside written and verbal communication abilities. Recognized for its artistic and academic distinction, the School of Music's distinguished faculty instructs undergraduate and graduate students across all orchestral instruments, voice, and keyboard specialties. Degree options include composition, jazz studies, music education, music theory, performance, and piano pedagogy. Admission to all music programs requires an audition.
