Our undergraduate dance program merges intensive studio training with a comprehensive liberal arts curriculum. Dance majors engage in performance, technique, and teaching experiences that prepare them for professional careers in dance and related fields. Students develop not only artistic abilities but also leadership qualities, analytical skills, creative solutions, teamwork, and nonverbal communication - assets valuable for diverse careers like arts management, dance therapy, marketing, PR, and production coordination.
Beyond required courses, students can specialize in performance/choreography or pursue K-12 dance education certification. All majors collaborate in studio work, performances, choreography projects, and academic dance studies. The program also connects students with international professionals - directors, choreographers, performers, and designers - making dance a popular complementary major.
International freshman applicants must be high school graduates (students that have the equivalent of a diploma in the United States).
English proficiency is measured through the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). A score of at least 550 on the paper based exam or 77 on the internet based TOEFL is required. USC also accepts the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or the PTE Academic Test. Students must score at least a 6.5 on the IELTS, or at least a 53 on the PTE.
